Changes in sports and leisurein the UAE

INTERVIEW ANALYSIS OF CHANGING SPORTS AND LEISURE TRENDS IN UAE   Introduction Sports and Recreational activities define the culture of any state. When the nation supports its team during any sports event it shows a sense of bonding and sense of identity with a country. The nation which has a strong orientation towards sports tend to get success in other walks of life as well because of the sense of ownership and bonding which is built into the nation and the team because of the events of sports. Apart from the team spirit, the recreational activities of any country including the fairs, folk events, cultural shows helps in explaining the youth the importance of the heritage, country’s origination and its place in the overall world map. These events are a source of motivation for the people belonging to that country. Interview Analysis Recently we conducted an interview with an Emirate’s citizen to explore that how the sports and recreational activities are emerging in UAE. We started off the interview by asking questions about the level of interest the gentlemen had in sports and we got amused to know that he himself was a sports person. His enthusiasm, passion and zeal for sports made it easy for us to ask him questions regarding the changing patterns in different sports activities. The interviewee briefly discussed about the UAE football association which was established in 1971 and since that time it is giving time and resources to promote the game by organizing various youth programs and trying to provide training programs to improve the skill level of the players. In response to one of our questions he told us that initially the cricket as well as football team in UAE was not very strongly recognized internationally but in the recent world cup the cricket team of UAE tried to perform well although they didn’t manage to win but the team spirit and enthusiasm which was lacking initially was boosted up in these matches. The level of effort and devotion that is given by the football and cricket coaches in UAE is improving day by day and it is in return improving the performance of the players. We asked the interviewee about the poor level of attendance of the players in the domestic leagues and he responded that the games are not properly advertised and the government initially didn’t promote this industry. The audience would rarely come to see the matches going on in domestic leagues and even the potential players were those people who were not able to get adjusted in any other professions. The passion of such people is not good enough to make the country win. When we asked him about the media awareness in detail he replied that people are of the notion that if they belong to UAE and they don’t watch matches that doesn’t mean that they don’t love the country. This perception needs to be changes as per the interviewer because the audience are a source of motivation for the players and if audience provides the players the moral support the chances of winning increases. In the end the interviewee said that still he is not disappointed by the changing sports trends in the state because change comes in baby steps and in order to make it lasting it is necessary that we accept the change in tiny bits and pieces.

Case Study Reflection

Me and my friends are going to do a case study on any place we decide for our class project. We are four and we think that the armed forces officers club will be a great choice for us. We informed the teacher about that and he said yes. First we got nikon camera to make a video about the armed forces club. We divided the task into four sections. I will start with the introduction and two of us will do the interview and last one will do the conclusion. We gathered at the club around 5 pm and started to take pictures and videos of the club. After that we went to meet a manager inside and he welcomed us to the club. Also he gave us an introduction about the history of the club, the facilities and the important events that were held in the club over the years. The manager showed us many places inside and told us how the person can spend his time in the club. In addition he took us on a tour around the facilities and the halls showing us the gym and the shooting range. After that we sat in a tent with the manager and started asking him about the club, when it started and why they choose this place and he said it's quiet here and far from the city for the person if he wants to relax he can come to the club and enjoy the place and it's facilities. Also there is a five star hotel in the club and some shops. And there is a place to play football, basketball and many other things. The manager also mentioned that we can hold our wedding in here and with a special price. It's one of the best places in AbuDhabi and I would love to go back there again.
